Purpose Technological advancements are reshaping the manufacturing industry toward digitalized manufacturing. Despite importance of top-class maintenance in such systems, many industrial companies lack a clear strategy for The purpose this paper is to facilitate implementation by proposing development process Smart Maintenance concept. Design/methodology/approach This study designed as multiple-case study, where three cases analyzed. Several methods were used collect data on case companies' smart strategies. analyzed with an inductive approach. Findings A proposed, including six steps: benchmarking, setting goals, strategic priority, planning key activities, elevating and follow-up.
